Do you believe in new year’s resolutions?
Year 2013 is over and people around the world are making their new year's resolutions but do we always stick to these resolutions and fulfill them?

Growing up, I never bothered myself about new year’s resolutions when the new year starts until 2006 when I went to University to study towards obtaining my B-Tech where I made a new friends from different backgrounds who seemed to believe in making new year’s resolutions.
Like all other schools after completing writing the final examinations we packed our bags and left the University and came back again the following year when the schools reopened.
The excitement of taking a break from my studies was the only thing that was on my mind especially during the December holidays and after the festive season I was only thinking about meeting my friends again.
It was obvious that thinking and making new year’s resolutions was the one thing that I was never thinking about until January 2007 during the reopening of the schools.
Spending time and catching up with my friends, there came a topic about the new year’s resolutions. One by one, my friends were talking about what their resolutions for the new year were. When my turn came, I never knew what to say as I did not have the resolutions but I just told them something which I cannot even remember today what it was.
One of the common resolutions that my friends made was to save money and not spend it on things that were not necessary. The days passed and soon January was over.
The following month my friends seemed to have been determined in keeping their resolutions but in March things changed.
They all started to spend money on things that were not important as usaul. When I reminded them about their resolutions the answer that I got was, they only made resolutions because everyone does it during the beginning of the year. Determination slipped away and no matter how happy they could be, they never mentioned their resolutions.
I never believed in making new year’s resolutions but I encourage those who do to work towards fulfilling them and do not do them because everyone within our societies does.
As much as I have seen people not sticking to their resolutions I have also seen people who made their resolutions working hard and succeeding in life. No matter the challenges that one is faced with, fighting for what you believe in is the way to climb a ladder to a better life.
