Keep restaurants clean

Some of us, when going to a fast food restaurant, do not think or wonder about where the food was prepared.

Just the smell of the food which we really like makes us imagine sitting comfortably at a restaurant or at home, enjoying our favourite food while a cool drink is waiting next to us to be consumed after that delicious meal.

In most cases one thing that does not come to mind is the cleanliness of the place where this so irresistible meal was prepared.

It is true that sometimes, when we are having a special meal, we come across things which are not meant to be there – such as a piece of hair.

But to some of us, finding that does not really take away our craving for the meal.

Instead we take out the unwanted piece and continue to eat, while others stop eating, lodge a complaint with the restaurant manager or just walk out of the restaurant, leaving the plate on the table.

Even after losing our appetite after nearly chewing what we are not supposed to, we stop going to the restaurant for only a few months, then come back again, forgetting about the past incident.

This week, after seeing a video where the workers of one of the most popular restaurants were seen using a hosepipe to wash chickens which were laid on an extremely filthy floor, I had two questions on my mind:

Am I going to continue buying the restaurant’s chicken or is the end of the relationship which I had with the restaurant as their customer?.

Until today I am still struggling to find an answer, but that is not my only struggle as I still find it difficult to erase from my mind what I saw in that video.

After viewing the video, one of my friends vowed never to buy from any fast food restaurant, and I am patiently waiting to see if she will stick to her word forever.

I am convinced that she is not the only one feeling that way at the moment.

To all those who run their fast food restaurants from the CBD or in the townships: please ensure that you feed your customers food which was prepared with love and care by ensuring that your kitchen is clean and suitable to produce food which will be eaten by hundreds of people.

Always remember to respect your customers, even in their absence.
