Ayoba family grows

Ayoba-Yo-Youth Soccer Academy is growing.

The academy has welcomed new members in the family which is the girls’ team.

The teams was only established three weeks ago and consists of young girls between eight and 13 years old.

According to the girls’ team coach, Mpho ‘Kappa’ Mogodi, the future of the young girls is brighter as far as ladies’ soccer is concerned.

He says working with them made him believe strongly that soccer is not only for the boys but the girls can also play and even make a career out of it.

He says one thing that he enjoys about working with these young girls is that they are passionate and eager to learn. “They understand and respect training time as they have never been late for their training sessions,” says coach Kappa.

Adding that the Ayoba is planning to register the girls’ team with the Springs Local Football Association (SLFA) when they are confident that they are ready to compete with other teams.

Zintle Nkwanyana (13) says she enjoys soccer. She says she once played netball but she had to quit as she says that she lost her love for it when she was 11 years old.

Zintle says one day she wants to see herself playing for Banyana-banyana so that she can be one of the girls who represent this country in ladies’ soccer.
