Early scoring for Early Birds
Early goal scoring by Early Birds gave it the advantage to win the game but tables turned and the game ended with an equal score.
Early Birds was playing against ABC during its Springs Local Football Association League game on Sunday at KwaThema Sports Complex.
The game, that started with only few supporters for both teams who were present to give support to their players, attracted more support just after the Birds’ first goal that was scored by Banele Mtolo.
The weather was good, allowing the players to do their best on the field. Just when the first half had only 20 minutes left, Banele put the second goal behind the net. ABC supporters, officials and other age group team players all became the coaches.
They all took the responsibility to coach the players to ensure that they equalise with the opponent.
Two minutes before the referee could blow the whistle to end the first half of the game, Banele came back with the third goal, making it difficult for ABC to equalise.
Because the Birds was leading by a high score, during the second half the team’s players seemed more relaxed and not eager to score again.
Ignatius Mthangu of ABC used the opportunity to score a first goal for his team. His goal brought back hope and energy to the rest of the team.
The game continued with ABC’s supporters shouting encouraging words to the players while also urging them to at least score a second goal so as to increase their points on the league.
Supporters’ appeals fell on good ears as Thabang Sibande scored a second goal for the team. Thabang played well to ensure that he did not miss any chance but used the chance that he had to equalise with the Birds. The game ended with an equal score of 3-3.
