Sports activities within Kwatsaduza close doors due to virus

The Brakpan Local Football Association has urged all members to take precautionary measures outlined by President Cyril Ramaphosa and the Minister of Health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, to ensure they remain safe.

Kwatsaduza – The local sports confederation has cancelled all sporting activities for the coming weeks due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Brakpan Local Football Association has urged all members to take precautionary measures outlined by President Cyril Ramaphosa and the Minister of Health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, to ensure they remain safe.

“The Brakpan Local Football Association will be adhering to calls for all sporting activities to be cancelled, which was issued by the South African Football Association and communicated to local branches.

“Activities will remain suspended in all spheres until further notice, suggestions are also being made that clubs suspend training sessions within their grounds and be mindful that you are not allowed to play unstructured football as that will be against the given instruction.

“In the meantime, it is important that we educate each other to prevent the spreading of the virus,” says local admin officer Votile Jack.

KwaThema Sports Confederation president Innocent Mayoyo says training session of more than 100 people will strictly be prohibited.

“All stakeholders need to work together to ensure that our players and the community are protected.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused, but we must put the safety of our players first.

“In the meantime, players are encouraged to stay safe, avoid any gatherings, preferably avoid training where there are more than 100 people or unauthorised training,” says Mayoyo.
