Phala set for Toyota National Championships

“What I have been able to achieve thus far would not have been possible without the support of the team and my family.”

Kwa-Thema – Nthabiseng Phala is among the 10 qualified athletes out of the 27 from the Kwa-Thema Disability Club who headed to Gqeberha on Thursday to participate in the Toyota National Championships for the Physically Disabled.
The event starts on April 23.
Phala, a shot put and long jump athlete, joined the club in 2006 and hasn’t looked.

“Being part of the club has changed my life in a way I cannot simply put into words.
“What I have been able to achieve thus far would not have been possible without the support of the team and my family.
“Also, being committed on my part has played a major role in my achievements to date,” she explained.
Phala has won numerous competitions and remains committed.

“I feel there’s still much to do. I have dreams and goals that I would very much still like to fulfil.
“Comparing from when I started to now, I see a huge improvement in my performance.
“I am excited about the championships and remain confident that I will do well,” she added.
She recently returned from the Athletics South Africa (ASA) Senior Track and Field National Championships in Tshwane with some of her teammates.
The three-day event was held from April 15 to 17.
