Meet Moleboheng, a promising tennis star

Prior to the announcement of adjusted alert level four, she bagged three medals in a friendly held in Kinross, Mpumalanga.

Kwa-Thema – Ten-year-old Moleboheng Magagula from the Sparks Tennis Club is showing remarkable talent.
She has won several tournaments and friendly matches.

Prior to the announcement of adjusted alert level four, she bagged three medals in a friendly held in Kinross, Mpumalanga. The learner from Sakhelwe Primary School joined the club about a year ago.

Magagula’s coach, Rita Tsuari, said the young player has been making great progress and the improvements are notable.

“My attraction to the sport was sparked by seeing Serena Williams play on television. I became fascinated with the sport,” she explained.

She started playing the sport has taught her some valuable life skills.

“Tennis has taught me to trust myself and instincts more. It also requires commitment, respect and discipline. Mostly it is a fun sport to partake in,” she added.

Her aspirations include playing at a national level and abroad. Tsuari, who has been a tennis coach since 2008, advised the best time to start playing the sport is from an early age.

Grassroots rugby to be aired on TV

“You can start at any age. However, I believe the best time to start is when the child or player is still young. It gives them the time to learn and grow with the sport without any pressure. The sport requires mental strength since it is based on angles, geometry and a bit of physics,” she said.

She said it is unfortunate that Covid-19 has affected their schedules and players’ performance but remains hopeful they will be able to catch up.
