Kwa-Thema Cricket Hub player Mpumelelo Mashiloane (15) has made it to the Eastern Cricket Senior Women’s Provincial Team.
Kwa-Thema – Kwa-Thema Cricket Hub player Mpumelelo Mashiloane (15) has been selected for the Eastern Cricket women’s provincial team.
This comes after being added to the u-16 provincial team.
She started as a bowler after joining the club in 2016 and currently plays for the u-19 as an all-rounder.
“I used to see people wearing white clothes, throwing the ball and running around the field and I would ask myself questions, like what are they doing?
“That’s how I became curious about the sport. After making enquiries, I then decided to try it out but purely out of curiosity.
“Little did I know that it would become my first love,” said Mashiloane.

The Tlakula High School learner said her promotion should serve as an inspiration to other young female cricketers.
Mashiloane aspires to become a role model for female cricketers.
“When I joined the club it had one girl. People would give us weird stares simply because we were young girls playing cricket.

“However, I remained focused on becoming a better player and investing in my craft,” she explained.
Her advice to other young girls is to try different things until they find what they are passionate about. She further said everyone has the talent and potential to make it in life.
Mashiloane’s auspicious coach Mandla Nkosi said the promotion is a positive sign.
