First sports event a success

LDSK said they hope to see more sports teams participating in the events of the association going forward.

Langaville – The Langaville, Duduza, Tsakani and Kwa-Thema (LDSK) Sports Association held its first sports event, U’Bumbano Games, on Heritage Day.
The activities started off with a fun walk, but the day’s festivities included soccer tournaments for girls and boys, netball and athletics, and dancers who entertained the crowd during breaks.
Members of the recently launched sports association were thrilled with the turnout.

Trophies awarded to the winners at the end of the LDSK Sports Association’s first event.

“We were so amazed by the support we received.
“The U’Bumbano Games event was a huge success and we couldn’t be happier. We are looking forward to having more sports events.
“Teamwork helped a lot,” said Bafana Gumede, who spoke on behalf of LDSK.

Rising Eagles won the netball tournament in the u-15 category.
Coach Nelisiwe Marokwa said they’ll be back to defend their title and trophy.
Glory Women Sports Academy won the ladies soccer tournament. The players and their coach were over the moon as they walked away with the trophy.

Sallies FC won the soccer tournament in the u-13 category.
“I am so happy, my boys played well. We are thankful to the LDSK for hosting this sports event.
“Our win means I’m doing a great job as coach, training the young lads to improve their skills on the field,” said Wiseman Nkalitshana, Sallies FC coach.

Trophies were given to the champions for soccer, netball and athletics.
Ward 79 sports coordinator, athletics coach and founder of Langaville Athletics Health and Fitness Academy Saki Khapola was happy that the community came out in numbers to support their children.
Everyone had fun and celebrated their Heritage Day together through sports.
Gumede thanked everyone for their attendance and unity.
