Golfers rise above hurdles
Golf club made up of pensioners are sharing their skills with other community members.
Kwatsaduza – The Monday and Thursday Social Club remains committed to teaching young and old people about golf in Kwatsaduza.
The golf club, which is made up of pensioners, is inviting potential golfers in Kwa-Thema and Tsakani to join their free training sessions.
These sessions take place at Kwa-Thema Sports Complex range as well as the Faranani range in Tsakani.

Lessons are open to anyone from as young as four years old.
Club chairperson Chris Nkosi said they have been receiving a lot of enquiries regarding the sport.
“It is motivation on its own to see people interested in taking up the sport.
“We are inviting far more people, especially young people and school learners to come and join us.
“Golf is not only about winning but having fun, socialising and a brilliant way to network,” said Nkosi.
Club member Hosea Rantho said they are looking forward to hosting new players regardless of the obstacles they are currently faced with.

“The golf course at Kwa-Thema Sports Complex is hardly maintained which makes it difficult to host games.
“We are constantly losing balls due to the overgrown grass.
“If it could be cleaned at least once a month it would make matters much better,” explained Rantho.
He said the issue of maintenance is slowly starting to affect their sponsorships.

“It is difficult to attract and keep sponsors if our grounds are not in a good state.
“As we need to provide proof by a show of photos and videos that we are indeed being active.
“Therefore, it doesn’t help if they are not appealing,” he added.
Kwa-Thema residents interested in taking up golf can contact Rantho on 073 583 8190. Those in Tsakani can contact Paul Ditsego on 081 087 5583.
Chris Nkosi and Job Skosana will be conducting the Kwa-Thema sessions.
