Home team XI Experience suffers at the hands of Luso Africa

The Kwa-Thema team lost the SAB League title on Saturday at Sinaba Stadium in Daveyton at the hands of Germiston team Luso Africa.

Kwatsaduza – Luso Africa striker Joseph Bissouahiag’s strike shortly after the second half was the difference between his side and the Kwa-Thema-based XI Experience in the Ekurhuleni SAB League promotion deciders final at the Sinaba Stadium in Daveyton, on Saturday.

It took Bissouahiag’s clinical finish inside the 18-yard box in the 56th minute to establish a winner in a match that had very few clear goal-scoring chances.

Luso will represent the Ekurhuleni region in the provincial playoffs, against the winners of the other four Gauteng regions.

Both teams relied heavily on playing long balls to their forwards throughout the match, and although XI Experience kept possession slightly better, there was very little difference in how the two sides attacked.

The game’s only goal came after XI Experience goalkeeper Siphiwe Nkosi pushed a header into Bissouahiag’s path in a congested penalty area, following a long free-kick from midfield.

The game’s first shot at goal forced Nkosi to push the ball out for a Luso corner kick in the third minute, but there would be very few other such goal-scoring threats throughout the 90 minutes.

There was a moment of concern later in the game as Luso’s Ruben Letwaba suffered a head injury. The midfielder was hit on the side of the face while jumping for the ball and seemed to suffer a fit after landing.

He was attended to by officials from both sides in the absence of medical personnel and got back on his feet after being treated on the pitch for five minutes.

After the match, Luso coach Paul Raposo could not hide his delight.

“We achieved the result; this team has done well. We made a promise to ourselves that we would win this league, and we won our stream and now it’s time to party!”

Meanwhile, his opposite number Madoda Mgezana said: “I’m not disappointed in my boys, I’m very happy about how they played.

“This is my second season and I had promised everyone that the team would be promoted in the third season. That’s why I’m relaxed, and I still have a young and strong team.”
