Don’t miss all the football action

Old-timers tackled each other on Sunday.

Kwa-Thema and Duduza – It was another Sunday of the old-timers showing off their soccer skills on the field. A Sunday of shibobos, tackles, dribbles and fun for the 30+ year-olds.

At Bluegum View in Duduza, the Ingqayizele pre-season challenge continued and saw the following scores: Wizard lost 5-0 to 17 Masters, Skomboyz couldn’t equalize to Yebo Yes, therefore, losing the game 2-3, Amabhubesi lost 2-1 to Geluksdal, Bazingeli beat Duduza 2-0, PCF lost to Brothers 0-2, and All Nation drew nil-all with Zethembe.

This then saw the top two teams of each group automatically qualifying for the quarter-finals and the best two of the number three joining the quarter-finals with the last four teams to play in the playoffs.

The top eight will include Geluksdal, All Nation, Brothers, PCF, Bazingeli, Duduza XI, Zethembe and Skomboyz.

Tornado Lions will participate in the Nomndayi Easter tournament

The quarter-finals will take place on Sunday at EXT Five Plus Ground in Tsakane with the following fixtures:
09:00 Wizard vs Amabhubesi – this will be a playoff-opening game for the quarter-finals with position 11 and 12 teams competing.

10:00 All Nation vs Duduza XI
11:00 Geluksdal vs Skomboyz
12:00 Brothers vs Zethembe
13:00 Bazingeli vs PCF

Votile Jack said, “The main idea behind this is to be able to clarify teams in which position they ended in the pre-season cup and also be able to measure their time spent on the field trying to improve their fitness levels so that when the league starts they are able to take part competitively without experiencing body aches.”

The Ingqayizele pre-season games will continue till March 19.

Meanwhile, in Kwa-Thema, the Tsamaya second leg of the semis took place at Ntokozweni Ground, and the following were the results:

City Royal beat Verbal Warning 4-2, however, Verbal Warning will move to the finals on an aggregate score of 8:4.

RDP Masters lost 2-3 to Amajuba, however, the aggregate score of 6-5 saw RDP Masters proceed to the finals.

The final clash between RDP Masters and Verbal Warning will take place on March 19.

Tsamaya general treasurer Dumisani Dlamini said, “The Tsamaya Exco (executive committee) decided to pause with the Top Eight Cup and resume with the league games, officially.

“It’s only fair and just to consider other teams out of the top eight competition as they can’t afford to be inactive for too long. Physical science tells us that they will rust. We need a competitive league, and all teams must produce.

“Therefore, we need them to be on the same bar level. So the leadership must make sure the playing field is level for all the teams.

“At the same time, the top eight finalists will have ample time to go to the drawing board to plan and strategise for the final game.

“We urge all our supporters and families to come to witness the league games this weekend. They can bring cooler boxes, camping chairs and umbrellas. Their presence in our games adds the 12th player atmosphere.”
