Kwa-Thema Netball Academy empowers young girls through sport

The Kwa-Thema Netball Academy held a series of friendlies for the players with the aim of keeping them busy and showcasing their skills.

The Kwa-Thema Netball Academy’s girls took to the court on October 17 for a series of friendly games that brought joy, energy and unity to the community.

Coach Lebogang Bangani said the day was not just about winning or losing. It was about giving the children a platform to showcase their talent, build confidence, and learn the values of teamwork, discipline and respect.

She said that in a time where many children are exposed to drugs, crime and other social ills, sport remains one of the most powerful tools available to parents and coaches.

She added that a child who is busy with sport has no time for wrongdoings.

“When we keep them on the court, we keep them off the streets. Sport also keeps the mind active. A healthy and active body leads to a healthy and active mind.

“Research and experience have shown that children who participate in sport are more focused and more disciplined and find it easier to concentrate on their studies,” explained Bangani.

She thanked all the players who participated on Saturday with such great spirit and all the parents who came to support and motivate them, adding that their presence means the world to these young girls.

Bangani urged the community to continue working together to keep children busy, safe and focused on a brighter future.

“The future is in our hands, and it starts with how we guide our children today.”
