Xolani’s music career keeps growing

Gospel singer, radio personality and youth leader are some of the hats Xolani Jwagga wears with pride.

The 27-year-old from KwaThema says he discovered his love for singing when he joined the Assemblies of God Church’s junior choir at the age of 11.

Xolani believes the platform he received from his church to sing alone opened many doors.

“I was able to join Giya Afrika which is a gospel group and since then I’ve appeared on television shows such as Gospel Gold, Gospel Time and Rhythm City.”

As a lead vocalist of Giya Afrika, he has been individually selected to share the stage with well known musicians such as Benjamin Dube, Rebecca Malope, Vuyo Mokoena, Jaziel brothers and also during the ANC’s 100 years’ celebration in Mangaung.

Xolani will do a live DvD recording at the Springs Theatre on February 28.

“I chose to record in Springs because my music is celebrated more by outsiders than my community.”

Xolani says music is not a hobby for him but a calling which drives him to sing.
