Beating the odds through music

KwaThema – Hip-hop duo BlaQKatz, Katlego Phasha and Bongani Nkosi, are ready to break into the music industry.
The two came together when they were still in high school and started playing cricket and experimenting with music as best friends.
Katlego says they have always been passionate about music.
“Early this year we decided to record our first mixtape titled ‘Road to’ which will drop on the first of December.
“The mixtape is about us reminiscing about our everyday lives and the challenges we go through.”
It has not been an easy journey, says Katlego, but “as young people going through life challenges we have been able to channel the frustration through music.
“Our music is about some of the challenges that ordinary young people go through on a daily basis.
“How they work hard to achieve their goals in life no matter what they face,” he says.
“We are also trying to motivate young people through our music to keep going and to never give up on their dreams.”
