Reimagining Myself by Ntsikelelo Mzibomvu
“…for this country to not only survive, but thrive, we need to transform into better individuals and better citizens.”
As his contribution to self-development Mzibomvu believes that when we each live our “best” lives, it will benefit not only those around us, but also our communities and eventually our country.
Mzibomvu was born and raised in KwaThema.
The book is a practical guide that is designed to help us reshape our thinking in the most beneficial ways as humanly possible.
He believes that most of us know what is wrong with our surroundings.
We may even know how to solve the problems that we see daily.

One of the topics that stand out, for me, is “repetitive exposure”.
It refers to all the elements that an individual is exposed to.
These can be voluntary or involuntary.
They include all information, thoughts, ideas, concepts, suggestions, experiences and influences.
Because our minds are constantly absorbing our environment, they don’t only take in “the good stuff”.
He warns that because your mind adjusts to what it is repetitively exposed to, even if those things are not good for us, we learn to live with them.

To this he suggests that we have to take stock of everything we are letting in.

“Over time the ideas that the mind is continuously exposed to, the mind accepts as truth and these ideas become belief systems.”
And belief systems largely determine how we choose to live our lives.
