Tsakani rapper is making big moves

“The message behind the song is that hard work eventually pays off, I am where I am in my career because of the investment I made upon myself."

Tsakani – “The message behind the song is that hard work eventually pays off.”
These are the words of promising hip-hop star Taded, real name Mpho Ncholo.
The 22-year-old holds the view that the biggest investment one can make is to invest in themselves.
He recently released the music video to his hit single titled Elevate, featuring fellow rapper Touchline.
“A close friend of mine who is a DJ and a producer by the name of Riss sent me the beat of the song.
“When I heard it, I had a sudden urge to use it to narrate my journey.
“The message behind the song is that hard work eventually pays off. I am where I am in my career because of the investment I made in myself.
“Not forgetting those who have supported from the beginning. I know I couldn’t be where I am without the friends who have become my second family, hence the line famo in the song,” he explained.

His music has been featured on radio and television, locally and nationally.
The music video was shot in his hometown, Tsakani, and includes two different set-ups.
It opens with a setting in a mechanic workshop, which he said symbolises that big dreams start small.
“Everything big and successful started as a small idea and perhaps irrelevant.
“The second scene is to show the beauty of where I grew up. There is no place like home, so I’m showing off the beauty of Tsakani,” he said.
Ncholo, being from a musical family, said growing up in Tsakani moulded him into becoming a musical artist and that his childhood taught him a lot about being the good guy.
“I lost my uncle in a hijacking. Being filled with hurt, pain and bitterness, growing up in a household where love, forgiveness and humbleness are practised and preached, I saw life from a different perspective.
“My childhood taught me to be one of the good guys because there aren’t many people like that in the world,” he said.

On his collaboration with Touchline, Ncholo said his craft has always inspired him.
“When we met, our energies were in sync, and you know vibes don’t lie.
“Working with him has been an amazing experience,” he added.
He is working on his sophomore extended-play (EP), titled Girls, are a drug 2, – the first one was released in 2019.
The new body of work will be about love, heartbreak and the healing process. He, however, stated his first EP remains his favourite.
“This may sound like a cliché, but I plan on becoming one of the greatest artists of my time.
“I would also like to branch out as a businessman and hold the East Rand banner high as a legendary musician and businessman globally,” said Ncholo.
