Jealous Down FC’s U13 and U15 crowned Sidwell Top 8 champions
After an early exit from the Tsakane Community Games, Jealous Down FC's U13 and U15 teams bounced back in style by lifting the Sidwell Top 8 trophies.
Kwa-Thema – Jealous Down FC’s U13 and U15 teams were crowned champions at the Sidwell Top 8 Tournament after impressive performances throughout the competition.
The victories came as a welcome response after the club’s U13 side was knocked out of the Tsakane Community Games.
The U13 team opened the tournament with a 1-1 draw before producing a dominant 5-0 victory over Sparrows in their second group-stage match, securing a place in the semi-finals.
In the semi-final, Jealous Down FC showed resilience by coming from 1-0 down to defeat Black 2-1.
They carried that momentum into the final, where they comfortably beat Black Fighters 4-0 to lift the trophy.

Coach Ayabonga ‘Jobe’ Nxumalo thanked the organisers for providing young footballers with an opportunity to showcase their talent.
“First of all, I want to thank the hosts for organising such a tournament.
“It keeps kids off the streets and protects them from many negative influences. It is also very important for their growth and development,” he said.
He also congratulated the Black Fighters FC on reaching the final and my boys.

Nxumalo also expressed gratitude after being named Coach of the Tournament.
“To be honest, I have the best players. They make me the best coach. Without my kids, I am nothing. I really appreciate the recognition,” he added.
The club’s U15 team also claimed the Sidwell Top 8 title, completing a memorable tournament for Jealous Down FC.
“This achievement means a lot to our development. We are building great players for tomorrow with a winning mentality. There is a lot more that is still to come from our home,” he said.
