Disney’s The Little Mermaid is heading to shore at Peoples Theatre
The perfect way to end the school year on a swimmingly good note!
This year marks the Peoples Theatre’s fourth and final product since it reopened earlier this year.
From November 8 to December 24, Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr will be on stage, ensuring the ideal family entertainment to enjoy this festive season and end the year on a high note.

“What a whirlwind of a year it has been! The reopening of the theatre brought with it many changes and challenges, but at the same time, we’ve also enjoyed many successes with old and new faces gracing our auditorium and stage. We’re delighted to be bringing our audiences this crowd favourite,” said director Jill Girard.
Ariel, a beautiful young mermaid longs to leave her ocean home and live in the world above. First, she will need to defy her father, King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, and convince Prince Eric that she’s the girl whose enchanting voice he’s seeking.

The Little Mermaid is jam-packed with instantly recognisable songs including Part of your World, She’s in Love and the Oscar-winning Under the Sea. This production flows seamlessly between land and sea ensuring a visual, musical treat that will be lavish and exciting and allow the imaginations of young and old to run wild.
Based on the popular Hans Christian Andersen story and the Disney film, The Little Mermaid Jr is directed by Girard, with musical staging by Ian Mills and set design by Grant Knottenbelt.

“Come and take a journey under the sea in a magical kingdom below with Ariel and her aquatic friends. This adaptation from Disney’s Broadway production promises to bring all of these well-loved under-the-sea characters to life in a spectacular end-of-year production,” Girard concluded.
