Managing petrol and Eskom price increase

The RECORD asked Albertorians on what did they have to cut out on their monthly expenses/ budget to keep up with these increases.

DONOVAN VAN ECK: “This has a huge impact on us and our everyday activities. I now have to compromise my health by skipping the gym or not going there more often to minimise costs. This limits our socialising because we no longer drive around like before to visit friends.”

FOLLOWING an increase in the price of fuel and the escalation of Eskom tariffs, the RECORD asked Albertorians on what they would cut out on their

monthly expenses or budget to keep up with these increases.

THEOLINE SWARTZ: “I usually have a tight budget, all this means is that buying takeaways is the thing of the past. I now spend money on the things that I need the most like basics rather than going overboard.”
SCHARLINE FORBAY: “Ever since the price of petrol increased, I have decided to save money by buying less meat than before. I no longer buy the same amount of grocery than I used to, I spend less on frozen foods.”
REGHARDT VAN WYK: “This has forced me to shift to a more affordable internet bill, to move to a cheaper package. This is a serious challenge since well I still have to pay for my child’s expenses as well as mine.”
