Monument flexed their muscles in the main game of the North-South Tournament yesterday to beat Paul Roos Gymnasium for the first time in more than two decades.

As the North-South Tournament continued into its second day yesterday, it was the northern schools who stamped their authority, winning four out of six matches.

The final match of the day saw Krugersdorp’s Monument make history against Paul Roos, claiming a first win in 22 years over the Stellenbosch-based school with a comfortable 44-26 victory. The White Bulls’ previous win over Paul Roos came in 2001, when former Springbok centre Jaque Fourie was part of the first XV.

The action at the North-South Tournament will continue tomorrow when Waterkloof face Glenwood, KES take on Paarl Gimnasium and Grey College close the day against Maritzburg College.

Away from the North-South festival, Rondebosch and Grey High played to a 19-19 draw.
