Cops bust ex-reservist

Eden Park police are fighting a big and elusive enemy called drugs.

With this huge dilemma of drug users and sellers in Eden Park, Palm Ridge and surrounding areas, the police have to react quickly on tip-offs.

Acting on a tip-off on Saturday August 24, the police pounced on a house in Palm Ridge to search for drugs. They were astonished when they found more than they bargained for.

“In our search we look for drugs and weapons. On this day luck was on our side,” said Inspector D Phillips.

“We found drugs, two illegal guns and police uniforms with a bulletproof vest. The arrested suspect was a former police reservist, who evidently never handed in his uniform when his service was terminated.”

Inspector Phillips, who is investigating the case, said the 34-year-old suspect appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on Monday August 26 for bail application, but the case was postponed until October 10.

“The police are now investigating the possibility that the illegal weapons could have been used in other crimes. It is possible that the suspect could have impersonated a police officer while committing other crimes,” Phillips said.

The fight against drug sellers and users is intensifying. Most drug dealers have been identified and many arrests will be witnessed in the near future.
