Cummins-powered Skater powerboat sets new world record

CUMMINS, a global leader in the manufacture, sales and servicing of diesel engines and related technology is proud to announce that its 5.9L 480 hp QSB engine played an instrumental role in officially setting a new world record on August 21.
American pilots Chris Fertig and Tyson Garvin set the world record-breaking time of 15 hours and 48 minutes at the Bermuda Challenge, a 760 mile track from New York City to Bermuda.
The 40 foot Douglas Marine Skater V Bottoms powerboat with twin Cummins QSB engines and a set of ZF 2 speed transmissions coupled to twin Arneson ASD8 in-line drive units smashed the previous recording by an incredible by one hour and 18 minutes.
