Two hijackers shot, three arrested
After a police chase, resulting in two hijackers being shot, the third was also arrested.
ALRODE: Two hijackers were shot on the old Vereeniging Road just after 07:00, Thursday September 19. This followed a police chase after a hijacking by three armed men at a residential home in Randhart just before 07:00.
The victim, a CPS security client, notified the security company who gave details of the hijacked and get-away vehicles and called in the assistance of Metro Police and SAPS.
Brackendowns Police spotted the get-away vehicle in Potgieter Street, gave chase and called for back-up. The suspects drove into an open veld on the Old Vereeniging Road, started to run away firing shots at the police.
Police returned fire and two of the suspects where wounded. They are under police supervision at Natalspruit Hospital and the third suspect in custody at the Brackendowns Police Station.
Two firearms were recovered and the hijacked vehicle was found in Madondo Street, Thokoza.
