CPS makes another arrest

One man, posing as a golfer, was arrested for vehicle theft.

NEW REDRUTH – On Tuesday October 8 a Hyundai was stolen from Reading Country Club.

A suspect who posed as a golfer was fortunately caught on camera.

When one of the CPS members went to gym on the morning of October 10 he spotted the car in the parking lot.

On Thursday October 17 the security guard at Reading Country Club noticed the man from the video footage and contacted CPS.

Theo Venter (member of CPS) immediately responded to the call. On his arrival the suspect spotted the car and turned around, walking out of the premises.

Theo followed him and made the arrest on the corner of St Michael and Fore Street, New Redruth. He was arrested for vehicle theft. CPS also thanked EMPD and the Crime Task Team for their assistance in the matter.

According to the suspect, he saw the car keys on the road next to the car, picked them up and got into the car, before parking it in the parking lot at a nearby gym. “I have never done anything like this before,” said the suspect.
