UPDATE: R59 Accident

Latest reports indicate that six people were injured in the collision.

The latest information from ER24, states that three people sustained critical injuries and three others sustained minor injuries.

This after an accident between six vehicles on the R59 in Meyerton.

According to ER24 three trucks, a bakkie, car and SUV were involved in the collison.

“Two men had to be extricated from their vehicles. Fire and Rescue services used the jaws of life and other rescue tools to extricate them. These patients were assessed and found to have sustained critical injuries,” Chitra Bodasing, ER24 spokesperson said in the press release.

Those who were in a critical condition were treated on the scene and airlifted to nearby hospitals. Others were treated for moderate injuries and transported to hospital by ambulances.

“The exact cause of the collision is unknown. Authorities were on scene for further investigations,” Chitra added.
