THE Exploratorium Nursery School is excited about the results from their 2018 project which started in January.
This project is all about working together and creating something to be proud of. If you drive past the school you will notice creative art on their wall which was made out of bottle caps.
“This is something close to my heart. This was the school’s way to have an interaction between the parents and the school. This is a community project,” said Charlene Botha, principal.
She also said that this was something that she did as a child and that it is so unbelievable how excited the children are about this project.
They also created a wall for one of their learners who is fighting cancer.
“Each art has a meaning. The one wall is a picture of Vincent van Gogh’s Starry Night. This piece of artwork is very famous for many different reasons. Van Gogh was obviously famous for his mental illness, but this painting is an expression of hope.
“The huge stars shining bright, with the church steeple shadow. Van Gogh was a very religious man and many will say that the number of stars in the painting allude to a specific bible verse in Genesis. It’s so important to us to show these kids that working together and playing a small part in something can really make a difference. Also, that there is always hope, always bright stars, always a silver lining,” she said.
According to Charlene, their project is also a creative way to teach the little ones, for instance, matching colours and teamwork. Their next art will be something about Christmas as the festive season is upon us.
“We really want to thank our parents and the contributors to our wonderful art pieces that are on the wall at the nursery school in Randhart. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,” she concluded.
