Kinston Academy closes its doors

The reason for the school to close its doors is reportedly because of finances.

On June 5, the doors of Kinston Academy in Glenanda officially closed for business.

The school was closed by its owner, Marina van Wyk, and teachers and other staff were reportedly asked to vacate the premises at the end of the day.

The reason for the school to close its doors is reported because of finances and according to van Wyk, it was not possible for the school to remain open.

Parents of learners in the school met with members of staff on June 7 to discuss what has happened and the way forward regarding their children.

Matters discussed included the reasons for the school closure, report cards, payments and possible continuation of their children’s education.

A group of parents volunteered to try and address the government about the school’s closure.

The story is still developing and the RECORD will publish more information as soon as it becomes available.
