Door of Hope needs your help
"This has brought on more pain for Door of Hope as we are already mourning the loss of 25 babies."
Since lockdown started Door of Hope in Glenvista took in an additional 13 babies of whom seven were abandoned babies.
Nadene Grabham from Door of Hope said, “Sadly this week, one of these babies passed away. He was taken to the ICU due to pneumonia, but did not pull through.
This has brought on more pain for Door of Hope as we are already mourning the loss of 25 babies, which we are aware of, who has succumbed to unsafe abandonment across South Africa since the start of lockdown.”
She told the RECORD that they are caring for 72 babies and thanks the community for helping with much-needed donations during this time.
“We are still in need of nappies, Milton’s sterilising liquid, Purity stage 3 bottled food, peanut butter, long life full cream milk, and cleaning products.”
They ask for the community to spread the word about places like Door of Hope, which are safe havens for abandoned babies.
“The more we spread the news, the bigger the chance that it would reach a pregnant mommy in crisis who may be considering abandoning her baby,” she said.
