Two suspects were arrested after they were spotted by RAM Couriers’s anti-hijacking team on August 13.
“Backup was requested from the team regarding a wanted vehicle which they spotted. We reacted and chased the suspects to Katlehong North where we managed to stop them,” said sales director of CPS Security Tyrone van der Merwe.
According to van der Merwe, the syndicate’s modus operandi is to follow those driving the RAM courier vehicles.
“They hold up the drivers while unloading their vehicles. Mostly, they are after cellphones which they then re-sell.”
Officers also found false number plates in the suspects’ car.
On further investigation, it was established that both suspects were wanted by the police and were most likely on their way to commit another robbery.
