Ekurhuleni on standby for possible flooding
The tropical depression can possibly lead to flooding in low-laying areas.

The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) warns residents of persistent rainfall due to a tropical depression, which may cause flooding in low-laying areas.
Residents are cautioned to consider personal safety, pets’ safety, livestock and safety of their personal belongings and properties.
“Rainy conditions contribute to unsafe driving conditions. We, therefore, warn motorists and pedestrians to be vigilant on the slippery roads and low-laying bridges that may be flooded,” said Nhlanhla Cebekhulu, divisional head of communication and media relations of the CoE.
“Residents also need to keep an eye on children not to wander far from their residences due to the risk of drowning or being swept away by flooded streams.”
The South African Weather Services has forecast persistent rains in Gauteng for January 25.
“DEMS is on high alert, monitoring the situation as it unfolds and is ready for any eventuality that might negatively affect residents. The City has also mobilised its emergency aid resources,” said Cebekhulu.
