Youngster spreads joy to Amcare
Miss Youth National 2020, Nelleh Bishop, took a day out to spread love by donating to Amcare on January 25.
During such a troubling time, Miss Youth National 2020 took a day to spread love by donating to Amcare on January 25.
Nelleh Bishop (18) took it upon herself to generously donate to the NPO with pre-loved clothes and shoes.
She said the donation was inspired by a need to reach out to the less fortunate.
“I wanted to make someone else feel better about themselves and make them feel special. As someone who has always been privileged, I wanted to give back to people who don’t always get what they ask for.
“Giving back to people always reminds them they are not forgotten,” said Bishop.
Bishop said she felt the need to make this donation, especially during such a time where people’s hope has been crippled by the pandemic.
“I decided to give back to the community because of the times we are facing. Everywhere you look there’s something bad happening. People are either losing their jobs or losing their loved ones and I wanted to extend appreciation to the community,” she said.
Joeline du Preez, Amcare’s fund-raiser, said: “As an organisation, Amcare relies on donations that go towards the charity shop on our premises. The funds are then used to support operational costs that the orginisation has. We are very grateful to Nelleh and others just like her.”
She thanked her for her generous act and said they are looking forward to working with her on other projects in the near future.
