Speedsters nabbed around Alberton

The five arrested speedsters are facing charges of reckless and negligent driving.

Over the past weekend, EMPD officers arrested five motorists for excessive speeding within the Alberton area.

On February 20, a suspect was arrested at 8.10 am on the N12 freeway by the Reading Interchange.

The driver of a white Clio with two passengers in the vehicle was clocked at 184km/h. He claimed they were late for work.

The driver was arrested and taken to Alberton Police Station.

On February 21 between 6 am and 11 am, four drivers were arrested for speeding on Swartkoppies Road. One suspect driving a Mercedes-Benz sedan with three passengers was stopped after driving 127km/h in a 70km/h zone.

The other three drivers clocked between 106km/h and 125km/h. The four were taken to Brackendowns Police Station.

All five suspects are facing charges of reckless and negligent driving.
