At least four suspects reported to be positively linked to another four courier robberies in recent weeks have finally been arrested.
Fidelity Specialised Services Unit (SIU) arrested the group on February 23.
The group, which is reported to have been involved in courier robberies for weeks, was nabbed in Strubens Valley in Roodepoort.
According to Wahl Bartmann, the CEO of Fidelity Services Group, Fidelity has been working closely with the SAPS for several weeks to uncover and apprehend the perpetrators.
“The team has been working on gathering information and tracking this group by successful identifying of the car used to follow the courier vans. Keeping a close eye on them and monitoring their movements, a detailed operational plan was discussed with law enforcement officials to intercept the vehicle,” he said.
Bartmann said the operation resulted in the apprehension of the four suspects who were handed over to the SAPS.
“It was a clean operation with no shots fired and no injuries reported. The investigation continues, with cases being opened at Randburg, Linden, Bramley and Alberton SAPS. They could be linked to even more crimes,” he said.
He commended his team on their outstanding work and CAP Security and law enforcement officials involved in this successful operation.
