As a way to extend a special thank you to frontline workers, Alberton Dutch Reformed churches donated special treats to Netcare Union Hospital on March 1.

The hospital received at least 500 packs, which will be presented to workers from both Netcare Union Hospital and Netcare Clinton Hospital.

They were pampered with packs that consisted of a moisturising lotion, a pen, lipstick, cappuccino, chocolate and a message of hope.

In total, the joint venture of churches included Verwoerdpark, South Crest, Alberton-Oos, Alberton-Wes, Alberton-Suid, Brackenhurst and Brackendal congregations.

According to Rev Ghisnene Müller of Verwoerdpark Dutch Reformed Church, the handover to honour frontline workers was among few others jointly done by the congregations.

“This is our third outreach, and we recently did community outreach and also donated to Tutela Alberton. All seven congregations have decided to do this because we want to extend our gratitude to the workers. All members of our churches wrote a message in each of these packs,” she said.

Müller told the RECORD in June they are going to reach out to the children in the community.

Esme Abrahams, the manager at the hospital, said: “We highly appreciate the tribute they have paid to our staff, especially during this time. It is honourable that a church community chose to appreciate us.”
