Alberton High observes Youth Day
In honouring the June 16 Soweto Uprising, staff of Alberton High School dressed up in school uniform on June 15.
In commemoration of Youth Day, staff of Alberton High School, affectionately known as The Blues, dressed up in school uniform on June 15.
This was in accordance with honouring of the June 16 Soweto Uprising, which according to the South African Government marks its 37th anniversary.
Oscar von Platen, a teacher at the school, said the idea was to build more spirit among the staff and to excite learners.

“I had the initial idea years ago, but this was the first time that we could do it properly. We did it once only years ago and never again because it’s always been exam season in June. I borrowed the idea based on Pick n Pay who organised their staff to dress up in old uniforms in Youth Day and the idea stuck,” he said.
