Diarise these events for some great family outings

AUGUST

7 Niche Community Market is a diverse group of creative sellers and food traders. The market is open every Saturday at the Walkerville Showgrounds from 09:00 to 14:00. Stallholders sell products like honey, jams, handmade natural soaps, plants, fresh produce, aloe creams, cookies and biscuits, biltong, koeksisters, fudge and candy floss, as well as a variety of crafted goods.

Fresh food vendors include Asian food, boerewors rolls, vetkoek and Indian food. Pop in at the gin bar, enjoy craft beer and ciders and just chill out. The market is pet-friendly.

NEW 15 Clean-up in Kliprivier Nature Reserve on August 15 with Johannesburg junior councillors, Londani Ngubo, chairperson of JJC enviro committee, at 09:00 with departure at 09:30.

Meet at the coffee shop. They will go out in force to pick up litter, so bring along black bags, gloves and a kind heart. Don’t forget water, sunscreen, a hat and walking stick, and remember to wear comfortable shoes.

15 Sundays just got a whole lot better. Sundowners will host a market every Sunday. You can expect high-end handcrafted items to luxury outdoor furniture, and everything in between.

Bring your family and friends and enjoy live music, jumping castles, jungle gyms, great food, ice-cold beverages and good vibes. Sundowners is situated at the corner of Kliprivier Drive and Kromvlei Road. To book a stall, call or WhatsApp Ryan on 084 706 2494.

NEW 21 Unleash the creative you and book for a stained glass workshop in the tranquil settings of Henley on Klip on August 21. Workshops last for about four hours and you will complete a suncatcher, which is yours to keep. All tools and material, as well as instructions, are provided.

Workshops are aimed at people who want to try their hand at the art before they commit to buying the equipment and, of course, at those who want to have an afternoon of fun with friends. 22 Guided walk every fourth Sunday of the month at Kliprivier Nature Reserve. Meet at 07:00 to leave at 07:30 sharp at Precinct Entrance, Peggy Vera Road, at the coffee shop. All fitness levels are catered for this walk which takes about three hours.

Come and enjoy a healthy outdoor experience appreciation of nature in the Jewel of the South. Bring water, hat, walking stick and sunscreen. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes.

Donations, used for the upkeep of the reserve are charged at R50 per adult, R30 children and can be paid into their account via EFT, Quicket, Snap Scan.
