A drive to help avoid a December shutdown

The SAB Alrode brewery hosted a pop-up vaccination site from October 6 to 8.

This drive is part of a nationwide tour by SAB in partnership with the Department of Health where pop-up vaccination sites are hosted at their various offices and breweries.

“We are taking this vaccine drive seriously and encourage all South Africans over 18 to get their jab as soon as they can,” said corporate affairs director, Kgosi Mogotsi.

“SAB is committed to seeing our country bounce back from this pandemic and we urge everyone to be responsible together.”

The tour aims to help the country avoid a fourth wave and avoid further alcohol restrictions, as this according to SAB affects their ability to invest back into the community and directly affects the livelihood of their employees.

“The bans have affected us negatively,” said regional corporate affairs manager, Zanele Mphuthi.

“We need to do our part to help things return to normal.”

The vaccination drive at the Alrode brewery was open to the employees of SAB as well their families.

The invitation to have their employees vaccinated was also extended to the industrial complexes and industries around the brewery. Walk-ins were also accepted.

The vaccination drive at Alrode was conducted very professionally. Prospective vaccinators were first asked if they are registered and if not were helped to register before proceeding to the waiting area where the administration for their vaccinations was done.

The vaccinators were divided between those receiving Phizer vaccines and those receiving Johnson and Johnson to avoid any confusion.

After a quick jab, the vaccinated were asked to wait between 15 and 30 minutes depending on if they have any prior conditions.

Throughout the three days, over 500 people were vaccinated.

“We are committed to helping SA’s economy recover,” said Mphuthi.
