This comes SAPS members foiled an attempted protest by All Truck Drivers Forum and Allied SA (ATDF ASA) on the N3 highway between Spruitview and Alberton on Sunday.

Law enforcement agencies are on a high alert after an attempt by truck drivers to block the N3 highway between Spruitview and Alberton in both directions was foiled this afternoon, February 27.

SAPS reacted to reports of four trucks blocking the highway.

According to SA Trucker, All Truck Drivers Forum and Allied South African (ATDF-ASA) is embarking on a nationwide shutdown on Sunday, February 27 over the employment of foreign nationals in the industry.

The statement further states that ATDF-ASA said they are tired of the empty promises made by the government regarding the employment of foreign national drivers.

Speaking to the RECORD, EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng said the scene has been cleared and traffic is flowing as SAPS members are patrolling the highway.

Motorists are advised to drive with caution.
