City encourages residents to use their 240L wheelie bins

The city's waste removal officials will not remove waste contained in 240L wheelie bins not marked with the city's logo or waste inside refuse bags.

The City of Ekurhuleni notes with concern the ongoing trend of customers not making use of their 240L bins for their intended purpose of containing domestic waste.

As such, the City wishes to encourage all its rate-paying customers to utilise the 240L wheelie bins to contain domestic waste and refrain from the use of refuse bags or even the act of illegal dumping.

The City of Ekurhuleni started rolling out the 240L wheelie bins to all its customers in the year 2014, to increase the storage capacity to contain domestic waste and to curb the infestation of rodents.

In addition, customers need to note that the City’s waste removal officials will not remove waste contained in 240L wheelie bins not marked with the City’s logo or waste inside refuse bags.

Furthermore, the City wishes to call on all customers who may have their 240L wheelie bins stolen or damaged to get their replacements at their nearest customer care centres or waste management depots.
