Models from Figures Modeling Alberton recently participated in the Project AIM cruise.

The Project AIM Convention was delayed due to the Covid pandemic but finally took place aboard the MSC Orchestra cruise to the Portuguese Islands this year.

Founder of the Figures Model Finesse International, Elsa van den Heever, started Project AIM in 2008.

Project AIM is a professional convention that is held annually and has become a prestigious leader in putting new aspiring talent on the radar for more than 15 local and international talent agents and casting directors.

This convention has grown exponentially over the years with an impressive number of students competing each year.

Figures Model International Agency was blessed to have over 270 students attending the convention this year.
Van den Heever and her team of Figures branch owners nominated these students based on their individual talents.

Erika van der Heever, Alberton Figures branch manager said: “Figures students are encouraged to enter the competition to showcase their modelling skills and talents in front of a panel of talent agents and casting directors.

“This is an opportunity of a lifetime where agents from South Africa and abroad scout for new talent in a protected, focused, condensed and structured environment. The talent scouts afford the students an opportunity to sign contracts for magazine, TV, movie and fashion work both nationally and internationally.”

Different competitions occur over the four-day cruise with the students, their branch owners, supporters and the talent scouts are kept extremely busy.

These competitions are: fashion teams, closed set TV commercial, TV commercial beauty, cold read, jeans, commercial print and runway, talented singers and dancers, swimwear, strike a pose, make-up and animal kingdom.

Figures Alberton had 15 students that attended the Project AIM 2022.

The students did very well and thoroughly enjoyed the exposure this convention offered them.

Some of the overall winners from Alberton and honourable mentions include Elizabeth Coetzee, Ziané van Staden, Ariana van Staden, Preya Govender, Preyashan Govender, Leora Holl, Remorapetse Seakamela, Kayla Plowright, Genevieve Durwin-Smith, Sherry-lee Olivier, Bronwyn Labuschagne, Danica Joubert, Shannon French and Alicia de Lange.

Melanie van den Heever owner of Figures Alberton said, “I would like to thank the parents and students for their consistency and dedication to the branch and the work it took to help prepare the contestants for the convention.”

Should you wish to take part in the next Project AIM and stand a chance to win an all-expense-paid trip, Figures is currently having open castings for models not yet represented, in an area near you. They are scouting for the next International Model of the Year.
