Operations at the Simmer and Jack landfill site resume

Firefighters finally put the veld fires in Simmer and Jack landfill site to rest and the site is back in operation after being closed temporarily.

Following a temporary closure due to a fire on May 15, the Simmer and Jack landfill site in Germiston is now fully functioning.

All municipal waste removal vehicles, private trucks and members of the general public have been permitted to use the facility to dump waste.

Residents used the Weltevreden landfill site in Brakpan, Rietfontein landfill site in Kwa-Thema and Platkop landfill site on the N3 highway in Heidelberg, during the closure of the Simmer and Jack garbage site.

The city would like to thank all its customers for their patience while the Simmer and Jack dump site was closed.
