City Power urges customers to use power sparingly amid dropping temperatures

Using power sparingly will help with the even distribution of it.

City Power urges customers to use electricity efficiently to avoid the likelihood of increased outages due to the cold weather throughout this week as announced by the SA Weather Services.

Spokesperson Isaac Mangena said: “We have been monitoring the system and are already noticing an increase in demand in certain areas and our network is under pressure, notably during peak hours of morning and evening.

“To avoid pressure on the system and subsequent overload, we urge our customers to switch off non-essential appliances and power-guzzlers such as geysers, stoves, pool pumps, multiple-heaters, and hotplates to assist us in avoiding overloading which leads to unplanned outages.

“Those not at work are urged to prepare meals early to allow those knocking off late to be able to use electricity to cook.”
