Show your support to the Alberton SPCA

See you at the Alberton SPCA's fundraiser on September 17.

An adoption and fundraising day is being held at the Alberton SPCA on September 17 from 09:00 to 13:00.

They have kennels full of dogs and cats looking for homes and some of them have been waiting for a family for months. Therefore, they will be holding an open day that includes a tour of their facilities to encourage adoptions.

Even if their kennels are full, the SPCA cannot turn away an animal and sadly this number continues to rise.

“We received 28 stray dogs and 36 cats in August, as well as 86 dogs and 41 cats surrendered for a variety of reasons. Out of these, only 10 dogs were claimed, and seven others were adopted. Several rescue organisations are struggling to raise enough funds to keep going,” said Lauren Martens of the SPCA.

Attending events such as adoption days is a great way to help whether it’s to adopt an animal or to support our fundraising efforts.

There will be food items for sale, a small market, books and clothes for sale, and the opportunity to purchase a MySchool card or join the SPCA team.

The day will be filled with entertainment provided by a local bike club.

Don’t miss this fun day out, supporting homeless animals, with the whole family.
