Free basic appliance repairs training course at Believers Care Society

Believers Care Society’s (BCS) Centre of Excellence for Youth Development has introduced the basic kitchen appliance repairer course.
The course is accredited by the Quality Council for Trade and Occupation. The purpose of this skills programme is to prepare a learner to operate as a domestic electrical appliance repairer.
Such a person repairs and maintains domestic electrical appliances with a specific focus on basic kitchen appliances in rural and urban residential areas and will have an understanding of broader competencies for employment and entrepreneurial qualities
Possible career pathways for the skills programme include national certificates in domestic appliance repair (NQF level three, credits 131) a further education and training certificate (appliance repair, NQF level four, credits 150) or the occupational certificate (electrician, NQF level four, credits 360).
The total number of credits for the skills training course is 27. The learning period is three months attending four hours a day from Monday to Friday. The requirement to enrol for this training programme is open access (anyone can enrol irrespective of their result or qualification, this includes Grade Nine and others that drop out of schools).
A certificate of competence is issued upon the successful completion of the course. Graduation ceremonies are held upon course completion and achievement of competence.
Registration requirements include a copy of ID, proof of residence or police affidavit confirming the address, a short CV and previous qualification/no qualifications, all certified. The student must be willing to study and complete training/project duration and must be between the ages of 18 and 35 years.
