Every weekday, the SOJO clean-up team works tirelessly to pick up litter in the Joburg South Area. This is part of the SOJO Business and Tourism commitment to the beautification of the south, made possible by the support of members such as Robot Hardware.
According to the owner of Robot Hardware, Mark Jackson, the company has been a proud member of SOJO Business and Tourism since the forum’s inception in 1998 as the Booysens Business Forum and has remained loyal and committed.
“The Robot Group was founded in 1940 in Booysens as a small family business, and they have been committed to supplying hardware and hardware services to the public ever since. When the company first began trading, it primarily dealt with domestic hardware, but after a few years of getting to know the industry, it shifted to industrial and engineering supplies.

“The store was originally located on a corner next to the Booysens Hotel, but it has since broken through and expanded to encompass the entire block. Robot has invested in the overall improvement of the area over the years.
“Robot Industrial Supplies opened in Isando in 1993 to supply the community with industrial and hardware tools. Since then, they have grown to become one of South Africa’s largest hardware importers and suppliers, carrying over 58 000 line items. They have received numerous accolades over the years,” said Jackson.
He added that Robot Booysens is under new management with him at the helm.
“We have continued to collaborate with SOJO Business and Tourism because we believe in what they are doing. Robot is very community-minded, and we support and encourage other businesses to help us build, protect, and keep our own areas clean with Nicky and SOJO. Many changes are in the works, including expanded ranges and categories, as well as a new exciting man cave filled with machinery for everyone.
“Their bold and bright branding on their shop front is visible as you enter Booysens from the M1, the gateway to the south. SOJO promotes business engagement among its members, and many people come to support the local store because of their exceptionally friendly service and low prices. Robot Hardware is a regular sponsor of SOJO’s annual fundraising events, which raise funds for the less fortunate in the south,” Jackson said.
SOJO CEO Nicky Vakaloudis said they are proud to have a company with excellent business ethics as a long-standing forum member.
“May this mutual relationship last for a long time,” said Nicky Vakaloudis, SOJO CEO.
