WATCH: Tik Tok video wins Unathi a car

Great atmosphere as Unathi wins Toyota Cross.

Unathi Mamane from the south won a brand-new locally made Toyota Cross at Rand Stadium Toyota, The Glen, on February 16.

In 2022, Proudly SA alongside the South African Music Awards (Sama) ran a Tik Tok competition where South Africans were asked to create their best #SAMA28 moments.

Unathi with her family created a video which won the competition:

Speaking to the Southern Courier she said she was scared and at the same time happy that she won.

“Thank you to Proudly SA and Sama for this wonderful car. I am going to love and enjoy it. I am proudly South African. Local is lekker,” she said.

Brand manager of Proudly SA Siyabonga Zungu said, “This is one of the moments where, as a brand, we get people to love our brand and South Africa. This is the showcase and the testimony of who we are and that is because of the consumers.

“This car is manufactured locally. Our mantra is ‘living lekker locally’. The concept behind this is to live your life locally, whether you drive a local car, travel locally or buy local clothes.

“We thank you for participating and as a brand manager I saw that you used the right logo with the whole family participating. And the idea was to show how you experience and appreciate local music.”

Lesley Mofokeng, Sama’s spokesperson, said he speaks on behalf of RISA (Recording Industry of South Africa), the organisers of the Samas. “Unathi won this car because of patriotism and passion. The use of our flag and the little trophies she had on the video. She poured her heart and soul into this project.

“Congratulations and thank you Proudly SA for collaborating with us. We hope to see Unathi at our next SAMA event, probably as our guest on the red carpet.

“I hope Proudly SA will be doing it again this year. Next year is the big one – Sama30. It will be wonderful to give away 30 cars, but we will see,” he said.

Dealer principal at Rand Stadium Toyota Robbie Matticks said it is great winning a competition and this is probably one of the best motor vehicles on the road. “This is a truly South African product. Thank you Proudly SA for inviting us to be part of this by being the supplier of the vehicle,” he said.
