Cause4paws troubled by parvo virus in Jackson informal settlement

Cause4paws in need of donations to continue saving the lives of animals

Cause4Paws clinic in Jackson’s township is riddled with parvovirus and is inundated with biliary cases.

Nine out of 10 times, puppies up to the age of two years old catch parvo in Jackson’s informal settlement.

Cause4Paws manager Wisdom Chigayo said: “Sadly over the last six weeks we have lost 22 puppies to this devastating virus and only managed to save four little lives.

“Vaccinations are vital at six weeks, nine weeks and then also at 12 weeks. The organisation do not have the funds to vaccinate the animals and it results in the veterinary clinic bills spiking.

A furry mother and her little ones were saved by Cause4Paws.

“These little puppies go through so much, pain, depression, vomiting, diarrhoea and then their stomach lining starts breaking down. That’s why sterilisation is so important and we spend every cent we have to sterilise,” said Chigayo.

Cause4Paws is in need of funds to pay the following veterinary clinic bills at Kibler Park Veterinary Clinic, New South Veterinary Clinic and Hennie Albert’s Veterinary Clinic. The combined bill is over R26 000.

“We also desperately need food to help feed the most needful. Our food comes from Hi Performance Feeds in Henley. Monthly we need R15 000 to cover our food bill and we pay R660 for 50kg.

“Hi Performance food brand KGB has a high content of protein in it and a deworming ingredient. This is a blessing,” emphasised Chigayo.

Cause4Paws is also in need of monthly F10 products to ensure their clinic stays virus-free. The organisation would appreciate any assistance as there is an additional need for cleaning supplies and the payment of the staff’s salaries.
