Mrs Geriatrix and Main Defender shine at thrilling Betway Spring Challenge Day

Unforgettable triumphs, heart-stopping races, and a thrilling Betway Spring Challenge Day at Turffontein as Mrs Geriatrix and Main Defender set the track ablaze.

Turffontein witnessed a spectacular showdown on October 7 as Tony Peter’s Main Defender and superstar Mrs Geriatrix left an indelible mark on the Betway Spring Challenge Day.

The event marked the conclusion of the Betway Spring Series and set the stage for the highly anticipated R5-million Betway Summer Cup on November 25.

The R400 000 Bloodstock SA Sales Cup for fillies took center stage and delivered a breathtaking spectacle. Mrs Geriatrix, the three-year-old filly under the guidance of trainer Sean Tarry, entered the race on an impressive five-race winning streak.

However, she faced stiff competition from White Pearl, trained by Mike de Kock. The two fillies engaged in a thrilling battle down the stretch, with jockey Richard Fourie timing his move to perfection, securing victory for Mrs Geriatrix in a photo finish.
