Joburg Water Depot Manager in South Hills, Mothusi Tholo addressed the residents saying:
“The affected areas without water are part of his operation and the team is currently working on solutions by trying to look into the valves which allow water distribution to households. As both the low-lying areas and high-lying areas are affected, we are looking into the sources which feed these areas.”
Residents have demanded to go with Joburg Water to where the valves are and have now proceeded to walk with Tholo to the valve.
SAPS and JMPD are on the scene and are accompanying the residents to the valve.
The water crisis is becoming a humanitarian crisis and residents are demanding answers from Joburg Water and Rand Water.
On Monday, October 9, residents from Robertsham and Crown Gardens protested over the lack of water supply. The residents barricaded Xavier Street with burning tyres and rocks.
